 Dean Schmelter, President, Co-Owner
Dean Schmelter has 28 years experience in sales, marketing, and manufacturing in the specialty chemical business. Dean started his career in technical sales, then in sales management. In 1989 he became General Manager of the Water Treatment Group of the Dexter Corporation in Charlotte, NC, where he served for 6 years. Following his own entrepreneurial spirit, he started Water Treatment Company, as well as 2 aluminum chemical companies. In 2006, he formed Southeast Biodiesel with Jim Thompson, after spending a year running bench top tests and a creating the fuel in pilot plant to master the process. Mr. Schmelter has a BS degree from Norwich University, and a MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He now resides in Mt. Pleasant, SC with his wife, Karen, and their two rowdy dogs, Maggie and Sadie.

Jim Thompson, General Manager, Co-Owner
Jim Thompson has 22 years of successful entrepreneurial experience as co-founder of AGDATA Inc. (U.S.), AgLine/TI Inc.(Canada), DBT Ltd (U.K.) and most recently, Southeast BioDiesel LLC. He sold his interests in AGDATA and AgLine in 2006 to Carousel Capital, a private investment firm. Both of these companies provide marketing services to the agricultural chemical, animal health and human health industries. Prior to self-employment Mr. Thompson was a Human Resources executive with Hoechst Celanese Corp (1979 to 1984), BASF (1972 to 1979), and J.P. Stevens textile mfg.(1968-1972). Mr. Thompson has a BA degree from Furman University. He resides in Charlotte with his wife, Linda. He prefers to spend his Saturdays making batches of the world’s best boiled peanuts and supporting the Clemson Tigers and Carolina Panthers.
